It would appear that we should all invest the whole of our available capital in the “small investors” £lO War Bonds at £B, because these being payable to bearer, are practically State bank notes. 2. Though they may not be reissued by the banks, they are better than a bank note inasmuch that even if carried in the pocket they value by 7d per month., 1 3. There will be little or no hesitation by any finnciaally sound trader in accepting them at cost plus accrued interest, and quite possibly at a premium. 4. The note now costs £B. In one year it will "be worth £8 7s, In two years £8 14s Bd. In three years £9 2s 6d. In four years £9 10s Sd. In five years £lO. 5. There is no limit but lack of pocket money,'they increase in value by 7! per cent to the amount actually obtainable by any one investor at the Post Office, 6. Exemption from income tax at the present rate unless it a per cent investment, and next year the rate of taxation will inevitably be. higher. 7. It is an exceedingly easy means of distributing one’s capital by way of a gift, settlement, investment, or a testamentary disposal (possibly also without death duty). GOOD BUSINESS AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. Christchurch, Aug. 17. There is still a brisk demand at the Money Order Office, Christchurch, for both bonds for large sums and certificates for small sums. The officer in charge reported this afternoon that business on these items had considerably increased of late. ‘ ‘We are rushed off our feet now,’’ he said. “We are having just as much to do as we want. ”
