THE AUSTRO-ITALIAN CONFLICT.

AUSTRIAN DEFEAT AT GORIZIA. RADICAL AND SWEEPINGTREMENDOUS ENEMY LOSSES. Rome, Aug. 10. The Austrian defeat at Gorizia was colossal and complete—perhaps the most disastrous of the whole war. After the fall of the enemy defences at Sabotino, San Michel and Podgora, their whole defensive system broke down. Nevertheless they defended Gorizia to the last moment, furiously fightiue in streets and houses. Many of tho latter were blown up with their garrisons. -The Italians are now attacking eastward of the town. The roads leading to the eastern heights are covered with masses of enemy corpses.
