AUSTRALIAN POLITICS.

MR FISHER’S POLICY. NEW SOUTH WALES CRITICISM. United Press Association. —By Elec iric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received April 6, 10.5 a.m. Sydney, April 6. The State Treasurer, in criticising Mr Fisher’s policy, declared against his elaborate . and costly defence scheme. It wonld be a sad day for Australia when the people were ground down like the people of Europe. "He said the Boers had taught them a lesson as to how they could make themselves reasonably secure by an inexpensive system of defence. He said Mr Fisher’s financial proposals were quite inadequate, and it was a serious matter for the States to be deprived of their fair share of indirect taxation but it became more serious still to have the Federal Government monopolising direct taxation. He understood that Mr Fisher declined to call Parliament together at an early date but it will meet on May 26th, which is slightly earlier than usual. \
