THE WELLINGTON FIRE.

Per Press Association

Wellington, March 10. " The wharf fronting Waterloo Quay this morning was littered with debris. The damaged hemp is being carted on to the reclaimed land, and a portion of the consignments will be available for regrading. The produce in the sheds destroyed and damaged is approximately valued at £6OOO. The Harbour Board’s buildings and contents (belonging to the Harbour Board) were insured in the Standard Office for £5615. Consignees of flax and tow, it is understood, will be also insured, but nothing regarding actual consignments and values is available. About £4OOO worth of wool was stored in “W” shed adjoining the shed destroyed. Only 40 bales of wool, however, were damaged by water in that building. Work on the wharves is proceeding as usual, the necessary Accommodation being available.
