Speck’s perforSance won for him not only the match, bat the Carbine Cup, It is somewhat remarkable that his final shot at the final range was recorded, and therefore counted as a miss. This he challenged, and inspection showed he had scored a bull’s-eye, and this made the record for the Dominion for these ranges. Love day, Ohura; 96; W. J. Henry, Opaki, 95, £2 each ; 27 take £1 each. Trentham, March 5. Shooting commenced at 8 o’clock under ideal conditions, and up to ten o’clock the shooting was ideal. The match started was the Nelson match at 500 and 800 yards, ten shots, and at the first range, so many possibles and “all bats” wore recorded, that no notice was taken of 38’s. There was a dead calm and fine light. Possibles were recorded by J. Preston (Auckland), Marshall (Waikare), Rowe, tyro, (Auckland), Williams [r(Featherstou), Forbes (Napier), Duthie (Christchurch), Dodd, (Port Chalmers). Among the numerous “all hots” was Boys, of Newtown, a tino.
