Owing to the Franco-Oanadiau Convention, Canada is increasing her subsidy to direct steamships from £25,000 to £40,000 |aanually. The speed of the steamers is to be increased and the voyages]will be more frequent The announcement that the Australian press delegates will visit Canada is being received with great satisfaction. It is proposed that the delegates should snend 16 days in Canada, leaving Quebec on May 21st. Earl Grey entertains the visitors at Ottawa. DEPARTMENT FOR EXTERNAL AFFAIRS, Received March 5, 8.42 a.m. Loudon, March 4. In the House of Commons, Mr Asquith, replying to Sir Albert Parkes, said that Canada had founded a Foreign Affairs Department like the corresponding Department of External Affairs in the Commonwealth. There was no suggestion that Canada was increasing her powers to deal with External Affairs.
