SHOOTING.

We have received a copy of the programme of the third annual gathering of the Rangitikei Rifle Association, wihich will be held on the well known range at Bulls on Wednesday, March 17th. Riflemen throughout the district will do well to keep this fixture in mind. Those who have attended in former years have always expressed their approval of the efficient manner in which the competitions have been conducted. The stakes in eaoh event are divided into fourteen prizes, by thisairangement even indifferent shots are enabled to save their expenses, and at the same time improve their knowledge in shooting. By coming in contact with the more experienced rifleman. In this connection it is worthy to remark, that of the fifty odd competitors last year only seven men failed to draw prize money. The stakes are based on an entry of fifty five, and should the entries exceed that number the prizes will be increased accordingly. A special feature of the programme is the inclusion of a match for cadets. As far as we can discover, this is the first time that the school cadets have been catered for by a rifle association. It is to be hoped tiiat the experiment will prove successful, and that those in command of cadet corps will do their best to secure a large nomination. Valuable trophies have been donated for this event, and a free nomination should encourage the boys to take part. The Association hope to obtain sufficient support from the public to enable them to purchase a championship cadet banner. All willing to help are invited to send contributions to the office of this paper or to Mr W. B. Clark at Bulla.
