MARTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

A meeting cf the committee of above was held last evening. Present: Mr J. J. McDonald (chairman),' Rev. D Gordon, Messrs Richardson, Mcssmau, Dolby and Wilkes. Mr E. Newman, who had been appointed to represent Rangitikei County Council on the committee, Wi'Oie expressing his regret at having to decline the position as lie would ba absent from Marton during the session of Parliament and offering to do all in his power to further the objects of the school. The Committee accepted the resignation with regret, and thanked Mr Newman for the interest he had taken in the school in the past and for his promises for the future. Mr Wilkes resigned his position as director of tha school owing to his approaching departure from Marton. The resignation was accepted with regret and good wishes were expressed for his success in his new sphere of work. Subsequently the meeting of the High School Committee was held. There were present, in addition to the members of the Technical School Committee, Rev. T‘. G, Carr, Messrs S. J. Davenport and Way. The Headmaster reported on the attendance last quarter as follows Primary school average roll 279, average attendance 249, per cent 85. Secondary school; average roll 15.9, average attendance 14.8 per cent 93. Piesent roll primary 280, secondary 23. It was decided to hold the school excursion to Wanganui Heads on Friday, February 19th. It had been originally intended to make a trip up the Main Trunk Line, hut the general impression was that the children would prefer to go to the sea and, therefore, the change was made.
