APITI NOTES.
From .Our Own Correspondent,
At a meeting held on Friday night in the public hall by the business people and others interested, it was decided that a Chamber ofXdommerce be formed in Apiti. Messrs J. P. Clark, G. Feildes, F. S. Rumbold, H. Yiles and J. Deoke were appointed a committee to draw up rules, obtain other necessary, information, ‘and submit same *,to a general meeting to be called at an early date. A hearty vote of thanks to the convenors closed the meeting. The Church of England Sunday School scholars under guardianship of Misses Millett and Powles, picniced at the Oroua Bridge on Saturday afternoon. Owing to a slight oversight, the party came away minus a copper, tea, sugar and milk, bnt the consternation was soon relieved by a hospitable farmer, living near, supplying the needed articles. Cricket, which has been lying dormant so long in our midst, has at last awakened. A match between Apiti and Table Flat was played last week, resulting in a win for the latter team. The married men have challenged the bachelors to mortal combat on Wednesday next. Dr. Gregory has returned .from a well-earned holiday.
