A CHILD SACRIFICED.

United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Manila, January 31.

Mr Walker, Governor of Bavao Moroland, Philippines, describes a carefully planned spearing to death of a child who was sacrificed to the gods to appease evil spirits. Death was almost instantaneous. The body was chopped to pieces and everyone present was |allowed to take a small portion as a memento. The remainder was buried. The natives who participated were sentenced to long terms.

As they were unaware that they had been doing wrong the sentence was suspended conditional on the practice being stoppped.
