MINERS’ COMPLAINT.
Per Press Association*
Reefton, January 30. is passing off quietly. The mines are Being pumped and made workable. Several falls occurred during the nearly four weeks’ spell. On these being remedied the men will get back to work again. There is no trouble, and all are heartily glad of the settlement. i Hunfcly, January 20. The mining trouble at Hnntly is further off frpm solution than ever. The Tanpiri Company has declined to disrate the four officials whom the Union object to, and the men have not/ met on the subject and have not gone back on their decision to remain firm. The secretary of the Union states that the Otago Miners’ Union was not asked to cooperate in the present strike, but only, in the original trouble over Jthe medical examination. If no solution is reached by Friday arrangements will be made for a protracted strike, which would be very far-reaching jjin its effect. So disturbance has occurred. ‘
