A meeting of the Committee was held last nifght, the President, Mr H. Burrell in the chair. CORRESPONDENCE.
From Department of Agriculture, stating that arrangements had been made for an officer of the Department to judge dairy produce. From Director of Feildiug Technical School, asking the Association to appoint a representative on tho Committee.—Mr Mayo re-elected. From Railway Department, (’notifying what train arrangements had been made in connection with tho Show.—The Secretary stated it was the same as last year. From Mayor of Feildiug, consenting to declare holiday on February 3rd from 11 a.m. ; and from Secretary of Marton Holiday Association, declining to declare holiday on that date/—Vote of thanks was passed to Mr Trewlu, Mayor of Feildiug. From R. Ross, regretting inability, owing to his wife’s illness, to judge harness horses.—lt was stated that Mr Hooken had consented to officiate in that capacity. OTHER BUSINESS.
It was decided on the motion of Mr Booth, that it he a recommendation to the Sheep Committee to have the weights of sheep in classes 98 and 109 put up at the pens. It was reported that Mr MaoLennan had donnated £5 5s and Mr S. Kidd £2 2s.
The Secretary reported that the total number of .entries received was 1179, as compared to 1068 last year. There were 855 entries for competitions, 115 cattle, milk testing 3, fat sheep and lambs 136, farmers classes and pet sheep 79, pure bred s 259, pigs 39, dairy produce, home industries etc., 193. Thirty two new members were elected. The Horse Committee reported adveresly to the . suggestion to put wings to the horse jumps.—The report was adopted. The offer of Mr MaoLennan to exhibit an alpaca was accented. *. It was decided that the New Zealand Times trophy should go to either one of the exhibitors in the dairy class, who, having tied for first place at the last Show, wins at the coming Show. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Wheeler, in the event of a tie for the points prize the exhibitor who obtains the most firsts he awarded the prize, and failing that as a settlement, the points from second prizes to count, and again the third prizes if necessary. It was decided to invite the Premier to attend the Show.
It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Booth, that the fleece competition as arranged last year, be proceeded with under the Committee already appointed ; that the sheep be in the hands of the Association before September 80th and they be shorn by the Association on October Ist. i
Mr Wheeler explained that hiS entries were quite ready at the date previously fixed upon, and Secretary had telephoned to him not to send them.
