United Press Association —By Elec* trie Telegraph—Copyright. Received June 5, 10.30 a.m. Melbourne, June 5. The Commonwealth will despatch an officer to Auckland to confer with the American Admiral with regard to fixture for the Victorian pageant.
AUCKLAND FESTIVITIES. Per Press Association. Auckland, June 5. On Friday, August 14th. the Governor will give a State Ball and to this it is intended to invite officers of the British Squadron and American Fleet, members of Parliament, mayors and members of the City Council. Harbour Board, etc Their Excellencies hope that by temporary enlargement of some of the rooms to issue about 1200 invitations to the hall. The men-of-warsmen of the visiting fleet will be permitted to travel free on the Auckland railways in uniform. This will afford many of them opportunity of seeing the country and carrying away an impression of New Zealand they could not otherwise gain. Arrangements will he made by a local committtee to take detachments of the men daily trips round the city and environs. The committee will also provide the men with lunch. The Government dinner will probably take place in the Drill Hall. It is proposed to floor the Drill Hall and build an annex where entertainments for the men can he held.
