Alice Turner, aged years, daughter of James Turner,*eraployed by the Riverside Dairy Company at Gear Island, died last night from injuries sustained by her clothes catching fire yesterday morning. Invercargill, June 1.
At the inquest on the body of William Grind lay, found in Punj Creek ou Sunday'night, the evidence showed that the deceased was shortsighted aud stumbled creek on his way homo. A verdict was returned accordingly. Auckland, June 1.
A middle-aged man named Rees Williams, whose identity has not yet been established, threw himself in front of a swiftly moving goods train at Ellarslie this evening and sustined fearful injuries, from which he died in 20 minutes. Cam am, June 2.
Yesterday John Nicholson of Maheno, blacksmith and wheelwright, was found in a dying state in a shod near his house. Blood was issuing from his mouth aud a breech-loader w’as beside him. He died this morning. Deceased was 60 years of age. Some time ago he was confined in a mental home aud since lie regained his liberty be has been despondent. Tbere is little doubt it was a case of suicide.
