The Times’ Tangier correspondent reports that hostile Bennhihassen tribesmen have surrounded Ahdul Aziz’s army, which is unable to proceed to Fez, A deputation from Mulai Hafid has strived at camp, aud is negotiating lor the surrender of the whole force. London May 20. The Daily Mail’s Berlin correspondent says that the Foreign Office is investigating the complaint ;,of the Legation at Fez, that when one of the German Consuls sent a messenger with a letter to the Commander of a neighbouring French force, French soldiers beat the messenger. and one soldier spat on the letter.
The incident will lead to immediate representations to France.
