The Daily Mail’s Berlin correspondent says that the Foreign Office is investigating the complaint ;,of the Legation at Fez, that when one of the German Consuls sent a messenger with a letter to the Commander of a neighbouring French force, French soldiers beat the messenger. and one soldier spat on the letter.

The incident will lead to immediate representations to France.
