THE FRONTIER WAR.
A VALLEY CLEARED, Press Association —Copy right. Calcutta, May 20. The Ameer’s letters to Earl Min to are couched in the most friendly terms. Details of General Barrett’s engagement at Bohaldag show that 2000 of the enemy strongly held both sides of the valley. The 57th Rifles and the 28th Punjahs cleared them with great dash. Lieut. Ivens was dangerously wounded. An Afghan, Serdah Khan, of Gnrdah was the leader in one encounter. Sixty of the enemy were killed. The 34th Pioneers while demolishing towers were charged by a party of fanatical swordsmen. All the latter were bayonetted. Received May 21, 8.30 a.m. Calcutta, May 20. General Willcocks, with General Anderson’s Brigade, marches northwards to punish the most recalcitrant Mohmands inhabiting the least accessible country. The heat, water difficulties, and night sniping constitute the chief difficulties.
