THE MISSING BANKRUPT.
Press Association. Wellington, May 6. A warrant for the arrest of A, OEHiotr, the bankrupt land and estate agent (of Wellington), has not yet been issued. The police bare been requested by some of the creditors to investigate matters, and have consented to do so, but steps will not be taken to bring the man back unless some of the creditors make application tor his apprehension, and guarantee expenses, or unless the Official Assignee can be shown that Elliott has left the country with £2O cash or other property of that amount in his possession. It is just possible that the Cabinet may decide to take the initiative. The Assignee states that he cannot ascertain that the bankrupt has gone away from the Dominion with an amount of property which would justify him in laying proceedings against Elliott, and although willing and anxious to meet the creditors in every possible way, he dare not exceed his powers under the Bankruptcy Act. Wel-lington, May 7. The police, though” reticent as to the nature of their investigations, are making inquiries into the definite allegations made in ‘respect to the' bankruptcy of Mr O. Elliott. So far as is known no warrant for s ',hia arrest has been issued.
