SPORTING.

WANGANUI TROTTING CLUB. As the outcome of a suggestion from several prominent sporting gentlemen in and around the district of Wanganui, a very enthusiastic meeting was held at the Rutland Hotel on Wednesday evening, Mr F. O. Faber presiding. After some discussion as to ways and means it was decided, on the motion of Mr Sprigging, seconded by Mr Gieseu, that a Club, to be called the Wanganui Trotting Club, be formed, and Mr G. Young was elected secretary pro tern. The following committee was then appointed : —Messrs Giesen, W. M. Ashton, W. Young,W. Aynsley, and F. O. jraber.

Mr Aynsley said that fully sixty names of intending members had been handed in, the opinion being that it was possible to secure at least 200 members. The matter of a track was than discussed, and it was suggested if the Wanganui Jockey Club were approached on tiie matter they might be disposed to grant the use of one of their inside tracks for the inaugural meeting, and that [other arrangements might be entered into later on.
