THE LATE MR STEAD.
Per Press Association. Christchurch, April 30. Flags at most of the business places in town were flown half-mast to-day as a mark of respect to _the memory of the late Mr Stead. Knmerous telegrams of sympathy and expressing appreciation of the worth of the deceased gentleman, have been received at The Press office throughout the day, from all parts of the Dominion. The messages include communica-
tions of condolence from tiie Chairman of Directors and from the Manager of the Press Association, as well as from newspaper proprietors and staffs in different New Zealand centres.
The meeting of the Christchruch Tramway Board (of which the late Mr Stead was one of the earliest and prominent members), which waste have been held to-morrow afternoon, will be adjourned, till the next day, it being the intention of all the members ofgthe Board—together with the principal officers—to attend the funeral. THE FUNERAL. Christchurch, May 1. Mr Stead’s funeral starts at 1 o’clock to-day and will be large and representative.
