LABOURERS’ DISPUTE.

Per Press Association. Wanganui, April 13. The Conciliation Board sat this morning to hear the general labourer’s dispute as affecting local bodies and contractors. The employers considering that there were no local demands for increased wages and therefore no dispute did not appear, but several were subpoenaed by the Board and gave evidence. The chairman said that no matter whether the dispute affected, local contractors or not it originated in Wellington industrial district, and therefore had to be heard, as affecting the whole district. Several workers’ representatives also gave evidence. Tne Board adjourned to Palmerston and thereafter sits in other centres.
