ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
‘ Press Association. Napier, April 12. A stock train ran into a number of horses on the railway line between Napier and Point Ahuriri at about 11 o’clock on Saturday night, killing four of them and injuring one. The horses belong to Maoris who are working at a clearing and road formation on the Whare-a-Maraenui reclaimed land. A gun accident occurred on Watchman Island, inner harbour, at about five o’clock this afternoon, resulting in the instantaneous death of Fred Oulton, aged about 26, a coach painter. He was 4 one of a party who were shooting stags, and while he was descending a steep rocky side of the island with the aid of a wire rope fixed there, his gun went off. The upper part of his head was blown away. Auckland,A pril 13. A boy aged four, named Henry Outhbertson, residing at Lincoln street, Ponsonby fell from the verandah railing to the asphalt path seven feet below, and sustained injuries from which he died on Sunday.
