N.2. RUGBY UNION. Per Press,Association. Wellington, April 9. , The Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union met tonight, when G. Y. Bogle asked for perissiou for a New Zealand University team to travel to Sydney to meet the Sydney University in July; also, for permission to pay the travelling expenses of the members. The application was granted, the chairman remarking that no permission was necessary in regard to the payment of travelling expenses. It was decided to instruct the Unions who are to combine against the British team to arrange for the selection of the team and ether matters. The selection will he left to the Unions, hut in the event of any trouble the New Zealand body step in. •

It was decided to get a report from the Wanganui Union in regard to a request for the Waverley Club to transfer to the Taranaki Union.

A sub-committee was appointed to report on what would he involved in substituting two test matches, in place of games between the Britishers and the North and South Island teams.

It was decided to play the North v. South Island match in Wellington on June 20th—a week prior to the date fixed for the test match against Britain. The Now Zealand team will he selected after the inter-island match. MANAWATU UNION. Palmerston N., April 9. The Manawatu Rugby Union met last evening, when the following recommendations were made for the consideration of the New Zealand Rugby Union at its annual meeting, to he held nest month :—“(T} That at least 50 per cent of the profits of every match played under the auspices of the New Zealand Union be handed over to the local Union on whose ground the match is played; (3) that it is desirable that measures should he taken to empower hue umpires to assist the referee in detecting instances of rough play.
