The Labour Groups in the House of Commons have formed an alliance limited to the present Parliament, for united action in regard to Labor questions. They have also undertaken that neither Group shall interfere with the other regarding sitting members or candidates selected for by elections. Mr Cave will, on Monday, move the rejection of the Licensing Bill on the ground that it fails to promote temperance and violates the principles of equity. Mr Asquith, addressing the London United Liberal Club, said the Government accepted the challenge regarding the Licensing Bill, and was quite prepared to face the clamour. He declared that gilt-edged securities had risen since the Bill was introduced, thus showing that the Government’s policy was not considered to be one of rapine or plunder. Mr Birreil, speaking in the House of Commons, indignantly denounced the cowardly and baseless falsehood associating Lord Haddo with the Dublin jewels mystery. IRISH LAND ACT. Mr Runciman’s committee reports that a hundred and sixty millions will be required on the present lines to finance the Irish Land Act to its completion instead of the original estimate of a hundred millions. THE PREMIER’S HEALTH. Received April 3, 8.30 a.m. London, April 2. Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman had a fair night. There is. no material change in his condition.
