At a meeting of the United "Wards Club, Mr Arthur Poley, barrister, read a paper on the Port of London Bill as affecting colonial trade. He strongly urged that one or more representatives of the self-governing colonies should have seats on the new port authority. Mr Taverner, Agent-General for Victoria, declared that the Colonies desired quicker marketing of their products and hoped that their goods would be nearer the heart of London.
