The Council of Rifle Associations in the Commonwealth has resolved to endeavour to send a team ,to Bisley next year to compete for the Kolapore Cup, and has asked the Minister of Defence to grant £2OOO to assist. The Minister has promised favourable consideration. The State Government has made arrangements for Currie & Company’s steam service to Singapore to be extended to a regular three weekly service to Rangoon tconditional on the ■ New South Wales Government coming to terms with Burns, Philp & Co. Government also hopes shortly to establish a direct service between Melbourne and Shanghai. The defence estimates aie £675,157, and provide for an increase of £61,473. Sydney, April 3, The annual report of .the InspectorGeneral of Police states that arrests for the year numbered 26,370, a decrease of 30. Serious crimes showed a slight decrease.
