In connection with the reported attack by " a supposed Anarchist 1 on the Chief of the Chicago police, it has been ascertained that the man Averluch, the alleged Anarchist, was merely trying to obtain a passport and it is believed that Shippy, the chief of police, who had been the recipient of Anarchist threats, attacked AverluchT believing him to be an Anarchist and that Averluch acted in self-defence.
