An important discovery ffias been made ofjnitrate of soda at Grampas Station in the far north. Samples assayed 29Tper cent of nitrate calculated as ammonia. The chief source of this valuable manure, better known as Chili saltpetre, has been the large beds in Chili which are becoming exhausted.
