STOCK REPORT. The N. Z. Loan & Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., reportWe had a good entry of sheep and a medium entry of cattle at Palmerston on Thursday. The sale was inclined to drag but we were successful in placing all lines of sheep and most pens of cattle. We quote : —Lambs 3s to 3s 7d, good store lambs-6s 4d, cull ewes 3s to 4s 2d, sound mouth ewes 8s 7d, 2 and 4-tooth ewes small 10s Bd, 3-tooth medium 14s. Cattle: Weaners os 6d, store cows 20s, forward cows £3 2s to £3 3s, fat cows £3 12s, cotvs and calves 31s. Messrs Dalgety & Co., Ltd., report on their Palmerston sale of the 13th inst. as below; —We had a very good yarding of sheep, but the demand was not at all keen, and prices slightly easier than last week. The following prices were realised : 2-tooth ewe? small 11s, fat ewes 12s 6d, forward lambs 9-- 2d. cull lambs 3s (id, wether lambs Os, 2 and 4tooth wethers 10s 7d, 2-tootb wethers small 7s. In the play-off for the Taranaki Bowling Championship Hawera scored 51; New Plymouth 37. In the compensation case, Didham versus the Minister cf Works, the Court awarded plaintiff £l9O, each party to pay their own assessors. The dispute between the Wellington Merchant Service Guild Industrial Union of Workers and the Union Company and other employers has been settled.
It is expected that fifty flaxmills in the Auckland district will he closed in consequence of the slump in prices, reducing the number of persons employed in this industry by seven hundred. The price of'flax today is £ls per ton lower than the price this time last year. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union it was decided to remove the suspension from local grounds ixn posed on A. H. Baskiville. It will be remembered that Baskiville, who was the promoter of the “All Black’’ professional team, which is at present in England, was suspended from entering grounds under the control of the Union during the pleasure of the Management CommitteeTHE “L.K.G.” IN AMERICA.
