BARMAID’S LIBEL ACTION.

DAMAGES Per Press Association. Gisborne, March 10. In the Supreme Court, the libel action Sadie Watson v. Joseph Buck* claim of £499 was concluded after midnight. Plaintiff was a barmaid with defendant and left his employ, and gave evidence against him in certain police proceedings, and it was alleged that defendant returned to her a photograph she is said to have given to his wife, having written thereon words implying that she was of immoral character. Mr Bell. K. 0., appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Lusk for defendant. The jury found a verdict for plaintiff for £125 damages.
