FIRE.

Per Press Association. Eltham, March 10. A large two-storey detached wooden building in Main Street used aa a boardinghouse was found on lire at 2 o’clock this morning. Eighteen persons were in the house, but they had time to escape and' save some effects and furniture. The fire started in the kitchen at the back of the lower storey and would soon have licked up the building but as the water pressure was very good and the seat of the lire accessible the flames were got under in about a quarter of an hour. Tiio house is owned by Mr G. W. Taylor and occupied by Mr J. Cossey. Insurances on the building are £(100 in the State Office, and on the furniture £l5O in the Standard. The damage to the building is estimated at £250.
