COURTS.

Per Press Association. Napier, March 3. At the Supreme Court, three lads, Percy Joues, W. P. Hughes, and R. J. Clearkin, pleaded guilty to several charges of breaking and entering. Clearkin, who is under 13 years of age, was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. The other two lads, who are about 16, were admitted to probation on the first charge, and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon on the others. Christchurch,M arch 3. Hecksler, a German, was fined £lO and costs to-day for kicking downstairs one Willesden, and causing him bodily harm. Hecksler had advertised for canvassers for the Widows and Life Assurance Association, and out of thirty applicants he selected four, Willesden being one. He held a class of the four to explain the operation of a certain insurance table under which canvassers have to work. Willesden did not understand the details readily, and asked questions. Hecksler then lost his temper and committed the assault. He did not appear at the Court, but was represented by counsel, who pleaded guilty for him. Half the fine was ordered to go to Willesden, Gisborne, March 3. At the Supreme Court, to-day, a Toto was admitted to probation for two years on a charge of the theft of a cheque. Daisy Simmellbag and Winnie McNeil, alias Wolfe, were acquitted on a charge of theft of a bookmaker’s ticket worth £9, and a rolled gold watch, from the person of one Goldsmith, at the Gisborne. Racing Club’s meeting. Haro Matenga, who evaded arrest for a nhmber of years, was acquitted on a charge of stealing a horse in 19U3. Two charges of theft from a dwelling will be taken against Maatenga in the morning. Napier, March 3. At the Supreme Court, to-day, Richard Charles Jones, charged with stealing, was remanded for medical examination. A young native, Rangi King! Epita, who pleaded guilty to forgery and uttering, was remanded for sentence. Martin Luther Murray was found guilty of assault"witb intent to rob, and was remanded until further charges of sheep stealing are heard. A young man, Percy Jones, pleaded guilty to robbery from the person, and was remanded for the probation officer’s report.
