FIRES.

Press Association, Master ton, February 10. There was a recrudescence of fires on Saturday at Raugitamau, Gladstone aud Opaki, but no sreious damage resulted. At Opaki a quantity of fibre was consumed. The high winds prevailing to-day are regarded with some apprehension. The threshing plant belonging to Mutrio, a Wairarapa resident, was found to be on fire when travelling behind the traction engine. No means to extinguish the fire Jwere available and the mill was completely destroyed. Whether it was insured or not is unascertainablo at present. The supposed cause was a spark from the traction engine driving it. When first noticed by the engine-driver the whole machine was a mass of flames.
