POLO.
Per Press Association. Palmerston N.. February 5. A polo match was played here today between the Wanganui and Manawatu clubs, resulting in a somewhat easy win for the home team by 8 goals to 2. The former club had not its best team out, and was fortunate in not being even more severely defeated. L. Strachan and Jones scored for Wanganui. The teams were :—Manawatu : Messrs H. Gifford Moore, W. B. Giesen, W. Strang, R. L. Levin. Wanganui: L. Strachan, G. McLeod, F. Jones, L. Higgie. In the first spell Manawatu scored a goal, and two more in the second. Wanganui scored'ia goal in the third spell, and Manawatu two goals. In the fourth spell Manawatu scored two more goals, and in the fifth and sixth put on two more, Wanganui scoring another goal. On Saturday afternoon a Wellington polo team will visit Palmerston to play Manawatu.* The folllowing will represent Wellington :—Grace, McOosli-Olark, H. Johnston, E. Williams. The visitors will be slightly stronger than the team which Manawatu recently defeated at Wellington.
