NEW PARLIAMENTARY BUILDINGS.

ANOTHER OFFER FROM MARTON. In addition to the 30 acres already offered by Messrs Brice, Broad & 00., Ltd., for a site at Martou Junction for the new Parliamentary buildings, another liberal offer has been made by this well-known firm, on behalf of the Martou Extension Land Company. The following letter speaks for itself:—The Hon. J. G. Ward, Premier, Wellington.— Sir. —We are in receipt of your favor of the 15th inst, in reply to ours of December- 24th, offering to the Dominion three blocks of land as a site for the new Parliamentary build iugs, and have to express our regret that you should have misunderstood the terms of our previous letter The land referred to was not offered for sale but was offered to the people of the Dominion, through you, as a free gift. In addition to the laud which we are offering, we have now to add to it, the sum of £SOOO, in cash, the only condition being that in the event of the offer being accepted the Parliament Buildings will be erected on the land offered. We have no doubt that if the buildings are erected here the £SOOO now offered could, with ease, be increased to £30.000, It is unnecessary for us again to point out the many advantages this place offers, over auy and every other, outside Wellington, in the whole of the Dominion; they are well-known to you and would gain the approval of all large-minded people, who have the interest of their country at heart.—Signed, Brice r Broad & 00., Ltd., Martou.
