DENNISTON COLLIERY.

Per Press Assc elation. Westport, December 24. Owing to many meu being absent holiday-making only one shift is employed at Denuiston, but work is proceeding steadily on the eight hours bank to bank principle (the system insisted upon by the men) and the output is well maintained. The management have apparently reconsidered the question of closing the mine unless the award is obeyed and matters will probably remain in the present'' state until proceedings are taken for breaches of awanj (probably by the Labour Department) or the Union got their case into the higher court.
