LIONEL TERRY.
A TESTIMONIAL FROM DR. TRUBY KING. Lionel Terrv is enjoying himself in Central Otago. Ho rested with a sheep farmer for two days, and played draughts with him most of the time. Dr. Trnby King, in a letter to tho Otago Daily limes, savs that Terry lias uufortnuatoly placed himself in a position which causes peoplo to pity him. and though it does not entitle them to do so, to sdoak, write, and act as though Terry had neither understanding, feeling, nor sensibility. The fact that a man of strong convictions and intense earnestness of purposo had felt impelled to act, and had acted, in a way which gained him an ontry to tho hospital for mental diseases, affords no excuse for insulting public reference, which can do nothing but harm: it is not reassuring to lonely women in tho back country to read alarming and suggestive articles, representing Terry as a particularly dangerous typo of criminal, when ho is in reality a singularly kind and courteous gontlenuui, who would never dream of molesting or harming' i them in any way.
