THE HINEMOA EXPEDITION.

The Northern members of the Hinemoa expedition arrived in Christchurch to-night and are unanimous!* 1 of opinion that the scientific results are entirely satisfactory. Tiioy took a large number of photographs of the island, dealing with plant and animal life, also views of the islands, but it is feared that the adverse weatlur conditions winch prevailed will considerably affect tho plates and they will turn out badly. Dr Cockayne proceeds to Wellington to-morrow on route for Kapiti island whore ho will liberate a number of birds captured on tho southern islands. Welliugtou, Dec. 2. The Marino Department has re* ceived no official report that the Government provision stores at Auckland Island had beeu plundered as reported by one of the Dnndonald'sS survivors. Tho Department states that if the story is true it suggests that seal poaching goes on more or less.
