TAKES ROSEATE VIEWS. Press Association. Auckland, December 8. Sir Joseph Ward arrived this morning for the purpose of selecting one out of five proposed sites for the new Auckland Post Office. He returns to-morrow, and will visit Auckland again about January 35th, remaining in the district about a month. In an interview the Premier stated that the financial crisis in America had not affected Now Zealand.' All the million loan for public works had been secured on satisfactory terms, and £BOO,OOO for the purchase■ of gilt-edged securities in London had been obtained without going on the Loudon money market. The financial position of the Dominion had never been stronger than at present. The new tariff was having a very beneficial effect on trade. No established industries had been affected, while already three new industrial concerns were about to commence as a result of its operations. Mr Baume lias expressed his determination again to contest the Auckland East se.it, contradicting a rnmonr that he intended retiring in favour of Mr Myers, Mayor of Auckland.
