TE WHITES TANGI.

A PICTURESQUE AFFAIR. Per Press Association. Putigiirehu, November 21. No incident of great moment occurred at Parihaka to-day, and though probably 250 people arrived to-day, it is much below expectations, and To Whitites are greatly disappointed. Profuse welcomes in true Maori fashion are extended tq the visiting parties, whoso grief and expressions of laments are most pathetic. Amongst this evening’s visitors wore Dr Pomare and Hira Parata with the Waikanae natives. The funeral takes place at 1 o’clock tomorrow in the open square in front of To 'Whiti's house. A brick tomb is being built which was the subject of a great koroto’’ this morning, Tohuites holding that the late chief should bp buried like a dog and thrown into a hole after the manner of the teachings of prophets for the last forty-seven years. The manner of burial is not yet decided, but the Rev. Hadden, a native Wesleyan missionary, endeavoured at the meeting to-night to have the funeral according to Christian rites, pointing out that the other arrangements are according to pakoha ways. The utmost discipline and good order prevails amongst the 1000 present, and no liquor is in ovidonge.
