The weather was fine and the wicket sound for the concluding day’s play. The visitors were timed to‘leave by the Sydney express and had only till 4.15 to pull up thenbig deficit. Fighting a stubborn uphill battle they succeeded in making a drawn match with four wickets down for 115. The outlook was anything but promising, when Hutchings and Rhodes for the fifth wicket added 107 in just over an hour. Hutchings played exceedingly forcible cricket. His score included 10 fours. For the ninth wicket Hardstaff and Barnes contributed a century and the latter contented himself with keeping up the wicket, while Hardstaff rattled up runs.
