MARION BULB AND SPRING FLOWER SHOW.
Despite the inclement weather tho attendance was unexpectedly largo yesterday, especially in the. evening. Altogether this year’s show- was by far “the most successful yet held. Tho takings at tho doors, and for sale of work, given by many liberal friends, amounted to nearly £7O. It would take too much space to mention every individual who energetically assisted towards' this result; but it would bo fair to mention Miss Emily Gibbous, tho hard-working treasurer, who also did so much in organising tho musical and dramatic performances that were so highly appreciated, Mrs A. B Awdry, and Mrs E. Broad, who had charge of the work stall; Miss Wallace, who presided over the produce stall; Miss Wallace, who IX V~ propriatoly sold sweet stuffs; MrsG. Signal, Mrs P. 0. Wilson, Miss Awdry, who all worked very hard, and their active and obliging staff of assistants who dispensed tea; and last, but not least, Mr V*. W. Hodges, whoso constant attention and hard work were tho hinge oil which every success that has this year been achieved has hung. Mr \V. R. Snollgrovo has also given much willing asistanco. Mr Bert Orozier’s orchestra was greatly appreciated. It is difficult to siuglo out tho most successful 'of those who contributed to tho entertainments, but the high-class dancing of tho Misses Speed, of Wellington, which evoked admiration, cannot be omitted. Tho committee desire to thank the generous donors of prizes.
