ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

At tho inquest hold to-day on the body of William Henry Thorne, which had bean found in the Heathcote river yesterday, an open verdict of found drowned was returned. Deceased was a married man with five children and was sixty-two years of age. EliTHAlt, August 31. The inquest touching the death of a 2 \ year old child named Martin, who had died after eating German sausage, was resumed to-day. Tho report from tho Government Analyst stated that he found I no trace of ptomaine or irritant poisons i in tho stomach, or the vomit, or sausage, i and a guinea pig which was made to cat a sausage showed no ill effects. Inflammation in the stomach might be duo to tho seasoning from the sausage. He thought death might he due to acute indigestion. Tho medical evidence boro this out and a verdict was returned accordingly. Hamilton, September 2.13 ’At the adjourned inquest ou the body of Patrick at Taugou, medical evidence pointed to the probability that deceased was alive when he entered tiny water. There wore no marks of violence. The verdict was death by-drowning.
