Manawatu Racing Club.
The first meeting of the new committee bf above Club was held last night, Ml’ KS.FAbraham in the chair. Mr J. H. Hankins was elected to fill a vacancy on the committee. The following officials were re-elected : —Messrs Hartgil), judge; Angus Keith, starter; W. Ratified, clerk of scales; R. Stevens, timekeeper; J. 11. Owen and C. J. Peakes, lion, veterinary surgeons; Dr Wilson, hon. surgeon. The following sub-committees wore appointed:— ~ , Executive: Messrs R. b. Abraham (chairman), P. J. Nathan, C. Louisson and H. Cooper. Programme Committee : Messrs X. o . Nathan, AY. Randell and 1). Buick. Ground Committee: Messrs X'. J. Nathan (Chairman), R. S. Abra.iam, C. Louisson, H. K. Cooper, C. Louglman, and D. Buick. Trainers and Jockey’s : Messrs lv. Eandcll and C. Louisson.
It was finally agreed after considerable discussion to hwatho first day’s racing of Club’s annual three days Christmas meolin*,T on Saturday, Doc. 22 and the two other days on Dec. 25 and 27 as in previous years. The total stakes in the bummer and Autumn programmes approved respectively amounted to £l3lO for Christmas fixture and £2590 Autumn mooting. Xt was unanimously resolved on the motion of Mr F. J. ISathan, not to have a double event totalisator macuino at any of the Club’s meetings. An increase of 2s Gd was decided upon I for lawn gats entrance for male patrons I only. , A sub-committee was sot up to revise the rules of the Club as suggested at the last annual meeting. _ Messrs G. Skerman, J. Robinson, 11. D. Buchanan, AV. L. 1’ itzherberfc <ind lit, P. Abr*Ui£im were nominated for membership. Marion J.G. MeetingHeroine lias been scratched for all engagements. . Following horses have incurred penalties:—Flying Handicap; Gold■wai, lOlbs, 7.10. Handicap Hurdles : AVaitoa, Tibs, iQ.3. Hunt Cup: Pilot, Tibs, 12.0; Cyroguo, Tibs, 11.3. Several horses have arrived at Martou and wore out on the traces this morning. The catering at Martou races has heeu encrusted to two well known gentlemen. Mr J. M. Nicol will be iu charge of the luncheon and rofresnmenfc booth, and. his well-earned reputation for supplying everything of the host is a sufficient guarantee that patrons will have no cause for complaint this year. The publican’s booths will ho in now bauds, the successful tenderer being Air E. Oroshy, of Awahuri. This will ho Mr Crosby’s first year at Martou and ho intends to supply the best brands iu ales, spirits and wines.
