A TRYING VOYAGE.
Press Association. Auckland, August S. The barque Don, bound from Adelaide to the English Channel with a cargo of wheat, is anchored in the Ilauraki Gulf. Tiie vessel sailed on July 3rd and met with very rough weather from the start of the voyage. Going on a south about passage the weather was extreme, and the captain decided to make a more northerly course in hopes of meeting finer weather conditions, and got a few days’ respite when a series of gales was encountered, always ahead, and' the vessel ran before the gale, making the Three Kings about three weeks ago. Since then the vessel has boon bulleted about by heavy southerly gales between Isortli Cape and blast Cape endeavouring to make the voyage to eastward, hut owing to the weather it could not be managedr Captain Allsopp, who is m command, suiterod so severely from anxiety that his health completely broke down insomnia being his trouble, and decided to put into Auckland for medical treatment. Captain Allsopp, who was formerly in command of the barque Brussels, came ashore and has gone into a private hospital, but it is expected he will bo well enough in five or six days to proceed on the voyage. The vessel is undamaged.
