PerT)css'Association NkLsoii, ‘August 2. At the inquest, medical evidence showed that death in both cases was caused by suffocation and burning. Ohe witness (Ogilvie) deposed that he fast saw Jbhn Stewart and Brown alive about 4,30 on Thursday Uftefcodp. He had bought and taken to them tw'n bottles of beer, which they drank at Stewart’s house. They wore all sober. Another witness deposed to seeing Stewart in his house just before seven, when he was staggering about with a candle in his hand. The occupant of the house two doors from Stewart’s discovered the fire but was unable to enter the back portion of the house. Ho shouted but received no answer. The licensee of Bush Tavern deposed that Stewart visited I;is house just before noon on Tuesday and had“half a pint of beer and took away two square bottles of boor. Ogilvie in the afternoon purchased three bottles of beer. The jury roturripd a ycfjfict that both men mot their deaths by suffocation and burning, adding that there was no ovjdt once to show how the fire occurred.
