After considerable opposition on the part of the Korean Court a now JapaneseKorean Convention has been signed placing the Korean administration under tho guidance of the Japanese EesidentGenoral, who is authorised to appoint his nominees to all responsible positions. When the Emperor’s abdication was announced all tho ladies of the palace thronged the palace, condoling and weeping and wailing, and then carried off every portable article as souvenirs.
