At the wool sales there is keener competition for crossbreds, and more spirited inquiry for merinos, which are in sellers’ favour. Following were the average prices realised for the following clips:—B.E.W., Ohau, 9%d; Waiau, 1 flak'd; Kaputone, 20d ; Kaimata, 13%d; Hiku, 12d. The number of bales catalogued to date is 137,223, cold 122,411 bales. The warm weather has stopped the demand for rabbits, but prices are nominally unchanged. At the rabbit skin auction 2(599 were offered and 2342 sold. Prices were steady, best incoming grades sometimes dearer.
