VOLCANIC ACTIVITY.
Ruapehu and TongarlroPress Association. Wellington, July 19. A Taupo telegram states that Monuts" Ruapehu and Tougariro seem •in active eruption. There was an explosion at four o’clock yesterday and a slight earthquake was felt at Auckland yesterday. | Auckland, July 19.
The steamer Atua, which has arrived. from tho islands, reports that the volcanic disturbance, reported by cable from Fiji was 30 miles southwest ot Tongatabu. The Premier of Tonga wont close to tho disturbance in a boat and saw steam rising from the ocean 40 to 50 feet.
