STRANDING OF THE PYRAMUS.
The Court-martial Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, July 10. Hurst was tried by the court-martial. Lieut. Braithwaite said it was by the Captain’s orders that the deck was handed over to Warrant Officer Collingwood. He stated ho had not reported tho alterations of the course to the Captain as was usual because they were only temporary, courses. On other occasions such courses had not been reported. He could not account for his first alteration, which was 3j degrees and might have been a bit more, but he did not look at the compass. The alterations brought the beacon from the port bow to the starboard bow.
Hurst made a statement and said he had been almost continuously on the bridge for the previous two days and was very sleepy. Having set the course he seized the opportunity to have a bath. Hurst was found guilty of an error of judgment in not remaining on deck till the C reef was passed, and was reprimanded.
