At the annual meeting of the Auckland Eailway League to-day the following motion was carried :—(1) That it is in the public interests to push on tho extension of North Island main trunk line to Maungaturoto as speedily as possible, in order that advantage of the gieatly increased traffic which will immediately resu It on reaching that point may be secured and the development of country be promoted, and that with this object Auckland members be asked to press for a vote of £IOO,OOO on this year's Public Works Estimates : (2) That it is most important to put in hand without delay tho survey work in connection with the extension of North Auckland Main Trunk Eailway beyond Maungaturoto in order that the route of the lines and sites for stations may be known! as a guide to local bodies iu their expenditure upon road and bridge construction.
